The residents were at home asleep when the burglar entered through an open window.
A home in the 300 block of Greenleaf Avenue was burglarized during the overnight hours of June 25 and 26, according to police.
The residents were home and asleep when the offenders entered the home by removing a screen and crawling through an open window, police said. Once inside the offenders removed small items of jewelry and a pillowcase.
The incident occured near the Linden Avenue "el" station, police said.
Wilmette Police Department is recommending residents close and lock ground floor windows before going to bed at night.

It's so tempting to leave my windows open on these airy summer nights, but this reminds me to think twice about that. Thanks Patch!
