Current Events Roundtable

  • Where: Wilmette Public Library, 1242 Wilmette Ave, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Current Events Roundtable is the place to enjoy your second
    cup of coffee along with a roundup on the leading national, international and local news of the day.  The group, moderated by Deerfield resident Don Levinthal, covers all points on the political spectrum.  Newcomers are always welcome.

Monday Night Car Shows at Westfield Old Orchard

  • When: Monday, June 4, 2012, 6:00 pm
  • Where: 4999 Old Orchard Ctr, Skokie
  • Why Go?: ake a trip to the past and check out a selection of classic cars parked on display in the West parking lot of Westfield Old Orchard shopping center. Every Monday night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., as many as 200 cars will be on display including Classic cars, Muscle Cars, Hot Rods, Motorcycles and vintage Military vehicles. This is an event for car enthusiasts and novices alike!

Korean/Vietnam War Roundtable

  • When: Wednesday, June 6, 2012, 10:00 am
  • Where: Wilmette Public Library, 1242 Wilmette Ave, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Two veterans' groups - one from World War II and the other from the Korean War and the war in Vietnam - hold regular meetings from 10-11:30 at the Library. Conversations are lively, the coffee plentiful and participants rarely miss a meeting. Newcomers are welcome.

Great Age Daytime Programs presents: Old Time Radio and the Great American Songbook

  • When: Wednesday, June 6, 2012, 2:00 pm
  • Where: Wilmette Theatre, 1122 Central Ave, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Those Were the Days host/producer Steve Darnall talks about how radio helped to create the “Great American Songbook” by offering songs and singers an unprecedented opportunity to present their songs to a national audience.  You’ll hear from some of the 20th century’s leading songwriters as they were heard on radio…including words and music from Johnny Mercer, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and a rare 1934 performance from George Gershwin.
