  • Why Go?: The school board will be providing updates on enrollment and other District 39 related issues. Full agenda.

Wilmette Village Board Meeting

  • When: Tuesday, July 24, 7:30 pm
  • Where: Village Hall, 1200 Wilmette Ave, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Wilmette trustees will be discussing zoning amendments, and considering approving liquor licenses to two businesses. Full agenda.

Learning to Look: Architecture in Chicago

 

Ballet in Cinema presents "Raymonda" at Wilmette Theatre

  • When: Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 7:00 pm
  •  Where: Wilmette Theatre1122 Central Ave, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: This three-act ballet featuring Glazunov’s glorious score tells the story of Raymonda, the niece of a French countess and betrothed to the knight Jean de Brienne. Separated by Jean's commitment to aid King Andrei II in medieval times, another suitor is so dazzled by Raymonda’s beauty that he attempts to abduct her.

A 1958 Bestseller: Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits

  • When: Thursday, July 26, 2012, 7:00 pm
  • Where: Wilmette Public Library1242 Wilmette Ave, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Matt Shapiro, a registered investment advisor, talks about Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits by Phillip Fisher, a book that first appeared in 1958.  It was the first investment book ever to make the New York Times bestseller list and is still in print. Shapiro has been a guest on CNBC, Bloomberg Television and the Noon Business House on WBBM.  His firm, MWS Capital, is based in Wilmette.
