  • Why Go?: Laura Doherty is a nationally touring children's recording artist and award-winning producer with an ear for a catchy melody. She acoustically rocks your kid’s world with her breezy folk-pop tunes for the whole family!

Taste of the North Shore and Family Festival

  • When: Saturday, August 4, 2012, All day
  • Where: Ascension Lutheran Church460 Sunset Ridge Rd, Northfield
  • Why Go?: More than 15 food and drink vendors are expected to attend the festival, which will feature a beer and wine garden, live music and kids activities including a petting zoo, pony rides and face painting. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Opera in Cinema presents "Anna Bolena" at Wilmette Theatre

  • When: Sunday, August 5, 2012, 2:30 pm
  • Where: 1122 Central Ave, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: From the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Italy Envelope-pushing director Graham Vick describes his production of Anna Bolena as “two women making use of the bed to get to the throne and a man making use of the throne to get to the bed.” The man, of course, is Henry the 8th, and the women are his doomed wives, Jane Seymour and Anne Boleyn. Don’t miss this tale of treachery and scandal, brought to life in Donizetti’s sparkling score.
