Housekeeper Throws Away Missing Watch, Theft, Fraud
The following arrest information was provided by the Wilmette Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A resident on the 1600 block of Spencer St. reported that license plates from a vehicle that was traded in were being used on another vehicle, Wilmette Police reports state. The resident had received notice of an unpaid parking ticket from a neighboring agency. The plates were stolen sometime between June 30, 2009 and Feb. 11, 2013.
A woman's soon-to-be ex-husband battered the woman's new boyfriend, Wilmette Police reports state. The incident happened on the 1200 block of Gregory St. on Feb. 12. No names were released by the Wilmette Police Department.
A resident on the 1600 block of Washington reported that he discovered that there was an attempt to fraudulently use his credit card to make a purchase of several cell phones, according to Wilmette Police reports. The victim is unsure how the card was used, as he still has it in his possession. The incident occurred on Feb. 7.
The owner of a restaurant in the 500 block of 4th St. reported that unknown offender(s) pried the lock off his storage unit and took 12-15 bottles of wine, according to Wilmette Police reports. The event occurred between 5 p.m. on Feb. 12 and 3:50 p.m. on Feb. 13.
The owner of a business in the 1200 block of Green Bay Rd. reported that he received a post-dated check from a client on Jan. 24, according to Wilmette Police reports. The check was returned and two attempts to have the client pay did not result in payment. The client stated he would be in to personally make the payment.
A resident on the 1500 block of Forest reported that he put his watch on a file cabinent in the office next to his bedroom between Feb. 4 and Feb. 10, according to Wilmette Police reports. A few days later, he noticed the watch was missing. He contacted his housekeeper, who stated that she had observed the watch in the office garbage can and disposed of the watch with the garbage, assuming it was broken. The complainant gave no further information regarding the housekeeper and wanted the report for insurance purposes.
The owner of a restaurant in the 1100 block of Wilmette Ave. reported that she was receiving unwanted text messages from an ex-employee on Feb. 13, according to Wilmette Police reports. The same subject was advised by the Wilmette Police Department in Nov. of 2012 to stop calling the owner. The officers advised her again to have no contact with the owner or she will be arrested.
