OMG PD: Odd Crimes in Our Patch Region

This week: Stolen swords and rosary beads, and very un-neighborly behavior

Local police departments provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt.

This neighborhood blows

A Northbrook resident got into an argument with her neighbor because he was blowing leaves onto her property. When she asked him to stop, he pushed her, she told police. But her neighbor said he pushed her only after she punched him in the face. Both neighbors agreed to “leave each other alone,” according to police.

You win some, you lose some

Three lottery tickets, including one that was a $100 winner, were stolen from the purse of an employee at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.

Well, he did have something to confess

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle in Morton Grove and took a car stereo and a set of Catholic rosary beads.

Trick-or-treat (and now you won't) smell my feet

A Chicago woman was charged with retail theft after Walgreen's employees in Oak Park told police she walked out of the store without paying for $34 worth of candy and an air freshener.

Neighbors eager to send thank you note to thief

A French horn worth approximately $3,000 was stolen from the basement of a Northbrook home.

I said clean my fleece, not fleece my room

A woman reported her iPad2 stolen during a stay at the Double Tree Hotel in Skokie. According to the report, the woman left her iPad2 in her room. When she returned later in the day she noticed a shirt she asked to have serviced hanging and her iPad2 missing.

Ice capades

An SUV was driving in Northfield when someone in the car threw a cup full of ice out the window. It struck another car and damaged the headlight.

Maid to sworder

A Niles woman told police that she hired a maid service to clean her apartment. After a dispute about payment, the victim discovered several missing items, including two sword sets.
