Families and children shuttling back and forth between the Historical Museum and Police Department Sunday were treated to free hot dogs and cupcakes, a concert by the Wilmette Community Band and close-up looks of various emergency services. While the open houses are an annual event, they also coincided with the 60th anniversary of the historical museum.

A day of perfect weather contributed to a large turnout, one officer said they would probably see between 700 and 800 people move through the station. Attendees got a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes at both institutions.
