Poll: What Should Replace Borders at Edens Plaza?
A baby supply store and outlet shop are among the suggestions from Patch readers.
The Borders at Edens Plaza has been vacant for six months, since it closed as part of the company's liquidation. Now the owners are seeking to subdivide the 30,000-square-foot property to make it easier to lease the space.
A drug store is rumored to be one possible tenants but Patch readers had some other suggestions.
Laura Fitzpatrick used Facebook to suggest buybuy BABY, a retailer with locations in Schaumburg and Downers Grove that sells strollers, car seats, nursery furniture and more.
Tongue firmly in cheek, James Stoker suggested a combination bookstore and coffee shop might work.
Gale Teschendorf said she likes the concept of New York's Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, but would really just like to see the space filled.
"I say let the market decide, heck with empty store fronts, just about any business would be an improvement," she said.
So what do you think? Vote in our poll and tell us in the comments section what new business you'd like to see come to Wilmette.

Lets have something that is actually useful! Not another useless bank/cleaner/antique store or yet another Walgreens/CVS. Lets bring a big box store in there!

Thanks Alfred. Any particular big box store you'd like to see?

Do we know that a bookstore/coffee shop could not work there still/again? Would be great.
(There is a Lettuce Entertain You Restaurant on the mall already.)

ToysRus or Walmart are a stretch to drive, so is Land's End.
