Q&A with Kenilworth’s New Village Manager
Patrick M. Brennan, the former Highland Park deputy city manager, started working in the Village of Kenilworth on Aug. 21.
Kenilworth trustees appointed Patrick M. Brennan as the new village manager during a board meeting Monday. The new village manager took time after the meeting to answer some questions from Patch.
Thoughts on becoming the new village manager of Kenilworth?
This is a great time to be involved because many of the projects (the board) talked about tonight, I have some experience in. So I think it’s a good way to interweave both my background with the way the board works together. I think we can make some good things happen.
What do you think will be the biggest challenge ahead?
I think the biggest challenge really is coming in with zero institutional knowledge, I don’t know how things have happened in the past so there’s going to be a lot of time catching up and learning the people and culture of the community, and learning what’s been done in the past and moving that forward and making good things happen in the future.
What are you looking forward to most as the new village manager?
Really getting to know the staff, I’ve heard so many good and positive things about them and I’m looking forward to working closely with them to continue making great things happen.
Why did you resign from Highland Park?
The city council was taking a change in direction in leadership, they appointed a different city manager and because of that I moved on and started working for Glenview. In the interim I’ve been working with Glenview on special projects and trying to find efficiencies for them.
