VIDEO: Pres. Canning Discusses New Life for Bicentennial Ash

The fallen historic tree will be removed at a later date.

What's next for the ? Well, the historic Bicentennial Ash could be repurposed a number of ways, according to Village President Chris Canning.

Since the tree was taken down , what's left has been surveyed and marked to be salvaged, Canning told Patch. But crews won't be removing the pieces until after all other debris has been removed from around the village. The clean-up staff's priority has been ensuring dangling branches are securely removed, to prevent further power outages.

And while what new form the old ash will take remains undetermined, Canning said he wouldn't mind seeing the tree transformed into commemorative plaques.
