Who Do You Trust? Mechanics Edition

In the debut of our new feature, we ask you to rate local businesses for the benefit of the community.

Car trouble sucks.

It's pricey, it's a hassle and there's a lingering suspicion that you're getting fleeced. Unless, of course, you can rely on someone you trust.

We want to help. And your friends and neighbors probably do, too.

Because Wilmette-Kenilworth Patch has a seriously extensive business directory, we want all of our readers to benefit from your experience the way your neighbors do. So please share your knowledge with other readers by leaving reviews on businesses in our directory.

Every week, we'll focus on a different product or service. Today we start with auto repair shops. Here's a bunch from our "Places" directory:

Please visit the links to and rate the businesses there. And, by all means, drop a comment under this article and talk about your experience.

About this column: Each week, we'll pick a service and ask you to rate the business.

Where’s Lake and Green Bay Auto Care? I see them at every event and I also know they do so much for this town starting with simple donations to most all of Wilmette’s charities.
I also use the corner repair shop to service my car now for nearly 4 years. I was there just three weeks ago. Did they close or something? I know that the owner is from Wilmette along with his Mom and two sisters also live in our town. I think the Mom grew up here and even went to St. Francis. The service at the station is a A+ from the start. They have a great waiting room and the place is spotless. Anyway the new manager Jon is friendly, and seems to be getting the system down I think. The owner I hear is working at developing another business were he just received his patent. He’s been gone for a while. Love to see him back.
One thing more about Lake and Green Bay Repair is that they bend over backwards to get your car fixed and that you know the price up front. I was told once that if this didn't fix my car then they would replace the other two part at their expenses. Another time they took my car to the dealer to get some warranty work done and didn’t even charge me. Why are they not listed with this group??

Missy - Thanks so much for bringing Lake and Green Bay Auto Care to our attention! Our directory's not perfect and for whatever reason some businesses never received listings when it was created. But I just requested that Lake and Green Bay be added and as soon as it is I'll add it to this article and let you know so you can share your great feedback as a review.

Tim Fella and his crew at North Shore Automotive are some of the nicest and most honest people around! My family has bought, traded in and serviced all of our vehicles from here. They run a clean, honest business. I recommend them to everyone I know!
