Americans spent $512.1 million on adult Halloween costumes last year. Yes, you read that correctly.
That number comes from Crain's Chicago Business and its recently released map showing spending on adult costumes for Halloween in 2011. It's more than $100 million more than was spent on kid's costumes last year.
It seems like the adults are getting into Halloween even more from the kids.
According to the interactive map, Wilmette residents spent $127,028 last year, while Kenilworth residents spent $12,849.
Nearby Evanston tipped the scales with a whopping $231,191 spent on the 2011 October holiday.
