Wilmette Blocks Glenview Flooding Plan

The park district opposes using the Wilmette Golf Course as a storage space.

Residents in eastern Glenview may have to wait on a plan to reduce flooding following opposition from both the Wilmette and Northbrook Park Districts in installing detention ponds, Glenview Announcements reports.

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago has approved a North Branch watershed plan aimed at relieving flooding in Glenview but Northbrook and Wilmette oppose the elements of the plan that would involve their respective villages.

As part of the plan to manage flooding for some 200 Glenview properties along the West Fork and Middle Fork branches of the Chicago River, an 1,100 acre-foot holding pond at Northrbook’s Anetsberger Golf Course and a 2,800 acre-foot storage space at Wilmette Golf Course would be required, according to Glenview Announcements.
