Wilmette Blotter: Bottles of Booze and Makeup Stolen

The following information was supplied by the Wilmette police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Residential burglary

The rear patio door of a home in the 100 block of 16th Street was pried open between 8:30 a.m. And 7:16 p.m. Dec. 12 and a MacBook Pro, a diamond necklace and three watches were stolen. The loss is estimated at $5,050.

A $800 spare tire was stolen from under a Toyota Highlander between Nov. 28 and Dec. 9 in the 100 block of Sterling Lane.

An engagement ring, a gold bracelet, a set of gold coins and a pistol from the Korean War were stolen between Sept. 1 and Dec. 7 from a home in the 500 block of Lawler Avenue. The loss is estimated at $10,000.

A tote bag containing two U.S. Passports and a Republic of China passport was stolen between 3 and 4:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at either Bed, Bath & Beyond or Carson Pirie Scott.

A black clutch purse was stolen from a purse between 4 and 6 p.m. Dec. 6 at My Mommy's Secret, 1105 Central St. The purse contained six credit cards which were used to make fraudulent purchases at Nordstrom, Macy's and Wal-Mart totally about $2,000.

A package containing $135 worth of makeup was stolen from a doorstep of a home in the 600 block of Laramie Avenue between 10 a.m. And 3 p.m. Oct. 31.

Burglary from a motor vehicle

A window of a 2000 Acura TL was smashed and a $2,200 guitar was stolen between 1:15 and 10 a.m. Dec. 10 in the 300 block of Locust Road.

A window of a 2007 BMW 328 was smashed and a $100 radar detector was stolen between 3 and 7:30 a.m. Dec. 10 in the 200 block of Millbrook Lane.

A set of home and car keys were stolen from a 2004 Honda Odyssey between 8 p.m. Dec. 5 and 7:20 a.m. Dec. 6 in the 1500 block of Gregory Avenue.

A window on a Lexus RX330 was smashed and a GPS unit was stolen from the dashboard between midnight and 7 a.m. Dec. 5 in the 300 block of Vista Drive.

Retail theft

Alberto Valdivieso, 57 was arrested for stealing two watches valued at $170 at 4:13 p.m. Dec. 8 at Carson Pirie Scott.

A bottle of Pinnacle vodka was stolen between 3 and 4 p.m. Dec. 9 from Fresh Market, 3232 Lake Ave.

Three bike computers valued at $1,350 were stolen between 10 a.m. Dec. 5 and 6 p.m. Dec. 6 at Higher Gear, 1515 Sheridan Rd. A similar crime was reported at a Northbrook bike shop Dec. 2.

A $23 bottle of Sailor Jerry rum was stolen at 9:03 p.m. Dec. 9 from Fresh Market, 3232 Lake Ave.

Fraud

Fraudulent ATM withdrawals totaling $1,229 were made from a Harris Bank account belonging to a resident of the 1100 block of Mohawk Road between Oct. 5 and Dec. 9.

DUI

Ariel N. Rogers, 25, of Evanston was arrested for DUI at 4:17 a.m. Nov. 30 at the intersection of Orrington Avenue and Clinton Place. She was also charged with speeding, improper lane usage and driving without a license on her person.

Nicholas A. Jordan, 24, of Kenilworth was arrested for DUI and speeding at 3:43 a.m. Nov. 24 at the intersection of Sixth Street and Elmwood Avenue.

Joseph H. Proppe, 18, of Chicago was arrested for DUI at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 24 in the 900 block of Locust Road. He was also charged with speeding, improper lane usage, illegal transportation of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Driving without a valid license

Stelea Aurica, 34, of Skokie was arrested at 11:02 a.m. Dec. 13 in the 300 block of Skokie Boulevard for driving with a license that had been expired for more than a year. She was also charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance and driving with an expired registration.

Basirat Y. Olabode, 31, was arrested for driving with a suspended license after she was stopped for speeding at 5:22 a.m. Dec. 12 in the 3500 block of Lake Street. She was also charged with driving 15-20 mph above the speed limit, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and driving with a defective muffler.

Criminal damage to property

Graffiti was painted on a window and a window pane between Dec. 1 and 12 in the 800 block of Harvard Street.
