Wilmette Blotter: Four Homes and Four Cars Burglarized
The following information was supplied by the Wilmette police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Two Xbox controllers, two Xbox headsets, two HDMI cables, an iPod mini and 30 Xbox games were stolen from a home in the 2100 block of Washington Avenue between 6 a.m. Nov. 25 and noon Nov. 27. Jewelry, laptop computers and other valuables were ignored. The burglars also shot cans of Mountain Dew with an airsoft gun and then threw them out.
Two gold rings with diamonds, two gold necklaces, two gold bracelets and several pieces of costume jewelry were stolen between 2 and 8:20 p.m. Nov. 27 from a home in the 600 block of Knox Avenue. The lock on a window was broken to gain entry. The loss is estimated at $2,200.
Diamond earrings and a box of costume jewelry were stolen from an unlocked home between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Nov. 22 in the 800 block of Sheridan Road. The loss is estimated at $1,000.
Loyola Academy and Holy Cross rings, a gold bracelet, a gold pocket watch and a sterling silver flatware set were stolen from an unlocked home between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 22 in the 100 block of Lawndale Avenue. The loss is estimated at $2,700.
Burglary from a motor vehicle
A Brahmin purse was stolen from an unlocked car between 2 and 3 p.m. Nov. 27 in the 1400 block of Lake Avenue. It contained a wallet, five credit cards, a driver's license, insurance cards and between $20 and $50. The loss is estimated at $500.
Two windows were broken and a GPS was stolen between 5:30 and 9:15 p.m. Nov. 24 from a car parked in the 2000 block of Washington Avenue.
A car window was smashed and loose change was stolen between 11 p.m. Nov. 23 and 7 a.m. Nov. 24 in the 1200 block of 21st Street.
A car window was smashed and a GPS valued at $150 was stolen between 5:30 p.m. And 10:59 p.m. Nov. 24 in to 2000 block of Washington Avenue.
Jannet Bennett Lord, 47, of Evanston was arrested for stealing two watches valued at $142 at 2:45 p.m. Nov. 26 at Carson Pirie Scott.
A wallet was stolen from a purse left in a shopping cart between 6:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Nov. 28 at Jewel. It contained checks, a debit card, a state ID, a driver's license, a social security card and $110.
A license plate was stolen at 6:15 p.m. Nov. 23 at Dunkin Donuts.
Jeffrey Hunt, 51 of Chicago was arrested for driving with a license that had been expired for more than a year at 10:47 p.m. Nov. 28 in the 3300 block of Lake Avenue.
Criminal damage to property
A house in the 700 block of Park Avenue was egged by three teens between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Oct. 30. The victim said her home had been egged about four times within the last three weeks, damaging one of her window shutters.
An ADT sign and four landscaping lights valued at $50 were broken between 9 p.m. Nov. 16 and 7 a.m. Nov. 17 in front of a home in the 900 block of Romona Road.
A car window was smashed between 10:30 p.m. Nov. 23 and 9 a.m. Nov. 24 in the 2100 block of Greenwood Avenue. The damage is estimated at $500.
Nicholas A. Jordan, 24, of Kenilworth was arrested for DUI at 3:43 a.m. Nov. 24 after he was pulled over for speeding at the intersection of Sixth Street and Elmwood Avenue.
Joseph H. Proppe, 18, of Chicago was arrested for DUI at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 24 in the 900 block of Locust Road. He was also charged with speeding, improper lane usage, illegal transportation of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.
