Wilmette Blotter: $95,000 Fake Check, $2,100 Tool Kit Stolen, Theft

These are the crimes, thefts and major traffic stops reported by the Wilmette Police Department between Aug. 6 and 13.
Burglary to Auto
A tool kit and other electronic boards were reported stolen from a car parked in the 3100 block of Old Glenview Road between Aug. 6 and 8. Entry into the vehicle was gained by breaking out the driver’s side window. The loss is estimated at $2,150.
A duffel bag containing a cell phone and other sports equipment were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at Loyola Academy, 1100 Laramie Rd., on Aug. 10. The loss is estimated at $280.
An iPhone accidently left at a woman’s restroom at Walker Brothers, 153 Green bay Rd., was later reported stolen on Aug. 5.
A Skokie resident reported leaving her wallet and credit cards after a purchase possibly on the counter of Fresh Market, 3232 Lake Ave. on Aug. 6. The wallet has not been turned in the store. The loss was estimated at $130.
A resident in the 300 block of Locust Road reported that her ex-boyfriend broke the rear window and the taillights of her vehicle after a conversation gone awry on Aug. 7. No loss estimate was provided.
A immature peach tree and a small cherry tree were cut down from a home in the 400 block of Lawler Avenue, without the homeowner’s consent between July 21 and 22. The loss was estimated at $100.
An attorney in the 1700 block of Washington Avenue reported receiving a fraudulent cashiers check for $95,225.
The Pace Bus shelters at Lake Avenue and Romona Road, and Lake Avenue and Locust Road were found to have graffiti written in white paint on the south side of the shelter.
William Leslie Kilmer, 45, of 2416 Rancho, San Diego, Calif., was charged Aug. 11 for driving on a suspended California driver’s license and cited for speeding following stop for traffic violation in the 3100 block of Lake Avenue.
Bernardo Perez, 39, of 604 6th St., Northfield, was charged Aug. 11 for driving without a suspended driver’s license, speeding and operating a motor vehicle without insurance following a traffic stop in the 3700 block of Lake Avenue. He was processed and released on an I-bond.
