Caregivers of Children with Mental Illness Support Group

  • When: Friday, May 18, 2012, 9:30 am
  • Where: Wilmette Public Library, 1242 Wilmette Ave, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Meetings of a support group for caregivers of children with mental illnesses, diagnosed or undiagnosed, take place in the Small Meeting Room from 9:30-11:00.  The sessions are facilitated by a volunteer from NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.  For information, call 847-716-2252 or visit the NAMI website at www.namiccns.org.

Historical Museum's Lakefront Housewalk

  • When: Sunday, May 20, 2012, 1:00 pm
  • Where: Wilmette Historical Museum, 609 Ridge Rd, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: This year’s housewalk complements the Museum’s current exhibit of the same name,“Cooler by the Lake,” by showcasing three magnificent lakefront mansions and the remarkable Baha’i Temple. These homes were designed by three very significant architects for prominent Wilmette families in the 1920s and 1930s and have been lovingly restored by today’s homeowners.

Author Blue Balliett Honored

  • When: Sunday, May 20, 2012, 3:00 pm
  • Where: Sheridan Rd & Michigan Ave, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Hear Blue relate how she began writing mystery stories. The Chicago author’s first book, Chasing Vermeer, was a New York Times bestseller.
