"We are reminding everyone this weekend to 'Driver Sober and Get Pulled Over' and 'Click It or Ticket,'" Commander Patrick Collins said in a press release. "If you plan on drinking alcohol, dsignate a sober driver before the party begins. Be responsible or risk a DUI."
The additional selective traffic enforcement patrols began on Thurs. March 14 and will be running through March 17.
In addition to patrolling for drivers who are driving under the influence, the Wilmette Police Department will also be cracking down on unbuckled motorists.
"Driving drunk is a deadly decision and is against the law," Collins said. "We will show zero tolerance."
The Drive to Survive Campaign is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and administered throug the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety.
