Wilmette Police Blotter: $10,000 Worth of Jewelry Stolen from Car

Burglary to Auto
A box with jewelry valued at $10,000 was stolen from a car parked in the Fresh Market lot, 3232 Lake Ave., on June 8.
Tools valued at $2,900 were stolen from a van parked in Edens Plaza, 3200 Lake Ave., on June 11. The lock on the side door of the van was punched out, according to police reports.
A purse was stolen from a car parked at Westmoreland Country Club, 2601 Old Glenview Road on June 18 between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The rear passenger window was broken to gain entry. The purse contained credit cards and about $100 cash. The total damage was estimated to be $1,000.
A vehicle was broken into while parked at Centennial Park, 2300 Old Glenview Rd., on June 18 between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Some items were stolen but no estimates were provided.
A car parked in the 300 block of Central Avenue was riffled through during the overnight hours of June 11 and 12. Nothing appears missing, according to police reports.
Burglary to Garage
A mountain bike valued at $870 was stolen from an unlocked garage in the 600 block of Washington Avenue between the overnight hours of June 11 and 12.
Offenders entered an unlocked garage in the 400 block of Central Avenue on June 12 between 12:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. The house sitter is unsure if anything was taken but both vehicles’ glove boxes had been opened.
Bike Theft
Clarence E. Wilson, 44, 2039 Darrow Ave., Evanston, was charged with misdemeanor theft under $150. Police responded to a bicycle theft in progress in the 400 block of Ridge Road on June 18 and said they later located Wilson in the 1900 block of Lake Avenue riding a stolen bicycle. Witnesses identified Wilson and the stolen bike.
An unlocked girls bike was stolen in the 300 block of Ridge Road sometime during the overnight hours of June 13 and 14. The bike was valued at $200.
Theft
A cell phone and $60 in cash were stolen from a purse in the 3500 block of Riverside Drive during the overnight hours of June 6 and 8.
