Wilmette Police Blotter: iPhone 5 Stolen from High School Student

A white iPhone 5 was stolen from a locker room in Regina Dominican High School, 701 Locust Rd., sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Oct. 12. According to the police report, a female student and her mother came to the Wilmette police station to report the theft. The student told police that she left the phone in her backpack, under a bench in a school locker room while she attended volleyball practice. The student also said that $5 was missing from her bag and that another student had reported $20 missing, as well. The police report valued the iPhone 5 at $220, though the item retails for substantially more.
A driver’s side door mirror valued at $300 was removed from a Honda Accord parked in the 2900 block of Old Glenview Road sometime between 3 p.m. on Oct. 7 and 8 a.m. on Oct. 10. Though the mirror was missing, the housing that held it had not been taken or damaged, and there was no evidence that the vehicle had been struck. Instead, it appeared the mirror and its backing had been pulled out.
Driving Without a Valid License
Waldemar Cnota, 32, of 7013 W. Irving Park, Chicago, was charged with operating am motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and failure to reduce speed after he was involved in a traffic accident in the 1700 block of Lake Avenue shortly before 6:34 p.m. on Oct. 12.
Raul Zuniga, 28, of 266 8th St., Wheeling, was charged with driving without a valid license after he was involved in a three car crash in the 1400 block of Lake Avenue shortly before 6:37 p.m. on Oct. 11.
