Wilmette Police Blotter: Some $1,000 Worth of Items Stolen During Auto, Garage Burglaries

Auto and Garage Burglaries
A dozen auto and garage burglaries occurred in Wilmette in the neighborhood just west of Green Bay Road and Between Lake Avenue and the Evanston border between June 9 and 10. In each of the incidents, the garage and vehicles were left unlocked.
The burglaries occurred at:
- 100 through the 800 blocks of Park Avenue
- 100 block of Prairie Avenue
- 1700 block of Washington Avenue
- 900 block of Oakwood Avenue
- 200 block of 9th Street
A pair of sunglasses valued at $250 was stolen from an unlocked car in an unlocked garage in the 100 block of Park Avenue between June 8 and 9.
A 21-speed mountain biked valued at $300 was stolen from an unlocked garage in the 100 block of Park Avenue on June 8.
$8 worth of quarters was stolen from two vehicles parked in an unlocked garage in the 800 block of Park Avenue between June 9 and 10.
A mountain bike valued at $200 was stolen from an unlocked garage in the 100 block of Prairie Avenue on June 9.
$170 was stolen from two unlocked vehicles parked in an unlocked garage in the 1700 block of Washington Avenue on June 10.
A resident in the 200 block of 17th Street interrupted a burglary to a garage on June 6 by scaring off the offenders. The resident told police four to five males fled southbound on 17th Street toward Isabella Street after being confronted.
Recovered Items
A stolen car was recovered in the 900 block of Chestnut Street. The car was stolen out of Evanston on June 7. Evanston police returned the vehicle to its owner.
A black mountain bike was recovered in the 100 block of Park Avenue on June 9.
Driving Incidents
A 17-year-old driver was charged June 8 with failing to provide information after striking an unattended motor vehicle. The youth and his vehicle were located several blocks away from the scene.
A 17-year-old driver was cited June 6 for illegal transportation of open liquor, texting while driving, improper lane usage, no proof of insurance and damage to village property after she struck two concrete light poles and a small tree in the 1000 block of Ridge Ave.
Possession of Cannabis
Atticus H. Missner, 42, 849 Michigan Ave., Wilmette, was cited June 3 for possession of cannabis after his vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 600 block of Lake Ave.
