Wilmette Rotary Club Honors Community Leaders
Local rotary acknowledges the work and efforts of three area community members.
During a luncheon on June 20, the Wilmette Rotary Club presented three awards to community leaders for exceptional service.
Village President Christopher Canning was presented the Fred W. Stoecker Award for Excellence in Public Service for, according to a rotary press release, “helping navigate our village through difficult financial times by creatively filling budget shortfalls caused by the economy and Springfield.”
For coordinating interfaith activities between Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Jewish, and Baha’i congregations, Rev. Lori Lowe from St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Wilmette was awarded the Dr. Willie Frankel “Harmony and Understanding” Award.

Wilmette resident Keith Decker received the George W. Fisher Humanitarian Award for assisting and serving children in a Guatemala orphanage and La Casa Norte in Cicero.

Members meet noon Wednesdays for luncheon, speakers, and fellowship at McCormick and Schmick’s Restaurant in Old Orchard.
