Updated: Rottman has been found not guilty on charges of abuse.
A Winnetka man has been charged with sexual assault and abuse of a juvenile, according to a Wilmette police statement released Wednesday.
Alan G. Rottman, 48, was arrested July 28 by Wilmette detectives on charges of abusing the daughter of his girlfriend, who is a Wilmette resident.
"Because of the age of the victim, no further information will be released," Commander Patrick Collins said in an e-mail.
Wilmette detectives had been investigating Rottman since August 2008, when they were notified that the girl had been abused. The incident reportedly occurred at the victim's home in Wilmette, Sgt. Michael McGarry said in the release.
