Get ready for more snow!
A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday for all of northern Illinois, including the following counties: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will.
The National Weather Service in Chicago says the snow should develop by Thursday evening and continue into Friday, with snowfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches expected.
"A period of heavy snow with snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour is possible late Thursday evening into the overnight hours," according to the National Weather Service.

What happened to us? 3-5 inches and we are worried? I guess it is just an advisory, but we should be able to handle that in Chicagoland.

I don't understand why the weather forecasters are making such a big deal over 3-5 inches. This is the Chicago area, 3-5 inches is nothing!!! Are the forecasters THAT desperate to see snow??? Let me know when we're looking for at LEAST 6-12 inches, then, I might worry a little!

I agree with Donna J! I grew up in the city in the 60's-70's where a more than a foot of snow was something to worry about--3-5 inches is a mere dusting!

I know for us old-timers, 3 to 5 inches is not much, but remember, every year there are new drivers who have never driven in snow before, or people who have moved here from warmer climes and don't realize that you have to change your driving habits when it snows.
Also, weather forecasters don't get many chances to be in the spotlight. Cut them some slack; they need something to be excited about.
My 10-year-old son is pretty excited that it's going to snow :)

3-5 inches is nothing in Chicago! Having said that, it still amazes me how many people panic on the roads and drive so very slow that they actually almost cause accidents. There are also people who apparently have never driven in snow before, who skid off the road with a mere dusting. Thank goodness Morton Grove takes great care of our roads! Just use common sense when driving. Easy as that. Let it snow! My boys want to go sledding!

I lived in Evanston in the mid 90s and had great admiration for how everyone embraced the snow. It was just matter-of-fact. Back in CT now, I see such contrast. We cancel school for amounts of snow that wouldn't even phase you!
