Comcast Offering Free Wifi In Expanded Hot Spots, Through July 4

As part of a rollout of wifi hot spots, Comcast is offering anyone, even non-customers, free wifi in a variety of eateries and other settings, through July 4. After that, customers can still use wifi in the many new locations.

There you are, sitting in a restaurant or doctor's waiting room, trying to get on to the Internet with your smartphone, tablet or laptop. But frustratingly, there's no wifi service. You either can't get online or must use up your expensive data plan service.  To remedy this, Comcast is expanding the number of locations in which it offers Wifi service, and is offering a freebie from May 24 through July 4. Anyone, even non-customers, can access wifi for free on those dates. After that, Comcast customers can access the wifi service for free, and non-customers can get two 60-minute sessions free per month. Many of the spots are located in Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Evanston, Mt. Prospect, Northbrook, Oak Park, Palatine, Skokie and …

Self-Serve Frozen Yogurt Store Opening in Downtown Wilmette

Cocomero started construction on the new Wilmette location on May 3.

Cocomero, a self-serve frozen yogurt store, has begun construction in downtown Wilmette. The store will open at 1163 Wilmette Ave. in the old Chen and Chen location. A Cocomero location opened last fall in Downer's Grove and that location carries around a dozen flavors, ranging from vanilla to peanut butter. Diners can then add some of the 30 offered toppings — including fruits, candy and cereal — to their concoction before weighing their cup and paying for it. The Downer's Grove location also offers bubble tea, smoothies and lattes. There's no word yet if the Wilmette location will offer similar items. This is a developing story. Shopping in downtown Winnetka just got a little sexier, thanks to the recently opened Romantika Lingerie Boutique. The store — which carries fine European lingerie, high-end athletic wear, designer men’s underwear, sex toys, candles, jewelry and other gifts — opened in it’s new location at 912 Green Bay Rd. about two weeks ago after four and a half years in Wheeling. “Most of our clients are from the North Shore, and we decided to go to them,” co-owner Kate Gordin said. “This is a little conservative of an area but [North Shore residents] are adventurous but they don’t always show it…everyone wants to spice it up!” The lingerie carried at Romantika is predominately made by European designers of delicate materials such as raw silk — which …
