The Wilmette Historical Museum and the Historic Preservation Commission will host the 20th annual Preservation Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 4th,
from 2:00 -3:30 p.m., at the Wilmette Historical Museum, 609 Ridge Road. The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are necessary and light refreshments will be served.

This fall, residents of Wilmette were invited to nominate buildings, gardens and/or landscapes that reflected or
enhanced the historic character of the Village. The nominations were judged by a panel of preservation professionals in October. At the Awards Ceremony, the
owners of the winning properties will receive certificates of recognition from the Wilmette Historic Preservation Commission. Eligible categories were stewardship, restoration and sympathetic addition. Four residential properties will be recognized along with one public space and one open space.

Following the awards ceremony, Kathy Hussey-Arntson, Museum Director, and Patrick Leary, Museum Curator, will discuss their newest book, “Wilmette” published in
September by Arcadia Publishers. Hussey-Antson and Leary will present an in-depth look at how the book was developed and talk specifically about the fascinating stories behind some rare photos included in the book. Autographed books will be available for purchase.
