A Thank You to Whoever Stole My Camera at Centennial Ice Rink on Friday, January 17

Thank you.

Thank you for stealing my camera.

Thank you for taking my Christmas gift that my three children, 9, 6 and 2 years old “helped” pick out with my husband and even contributed some of their own saved-up money to help buy for their mom.  The looks on their faces when I opened their present will be cherished forever but never printed.

Thank you for taking a camera that was intended to capture many of our cherished family memories that were to last a lifetime.

Thank you for taking the memories that were stored on the camera.  How about the one of my son winning his hockey game that evening.  That was an awesome shot of him, wasn’t it?

Thank you.  I just received confirmation of my enrollment in a photography course at New Trier Extension.  Would you like to take my spot?

Thank you for creating a memory for us in your own “special” way.  My family will always remember the moment when we discovered the camera was stolen.

Thank you for sharing a personal memory of you and a lesson.  My children's innocence and disbelief that there are untrustworthy people in the world - right here in our own community, right here at Centennial Ice Rink where they enjoy many fond family and friend moments - is a sad but real lesson to be learned.  (By the way, my children want to know if you are an adult or a kid?)

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to remind you of the old adage:  "What goes around, comes around."

Thank you.  Now instead of watching my son’s love of hockey and how well he is excelling at it, I get to keep an eye out for you and on my handbag during my three or more visits per week to Centennial.

I can continue with more thankful reasons but why bore you with an enriching pastime such as reading?  You have much better things to be doing.

Enjoy my camera.

Thank you,

Lisa Metz
