"Bar Mitzvah" Celebration for Am Yisrael's William and Toby Frankel Education Center, home of its School of Jewish Studies, Feb. 22 and Feb. 23

Thirteen year ago Northfield's Am Yisrael broke ground for the William and Toby Frankel Education Center, home of its School of Jewish Studies, at 4 Happ Road.  While Am Yisrael's religious and Sunday school classes were held at nearby venues from 1968-2001, the construction and opening of a permanent home for the School building was a  significant event in the life of the congregation, building community, connection and a positive Jewish identity.  Today the Am Yisrael School of Jewish Studies continues to thrive and remains at the forefront of innovative Jewish education and programming nationally.   On Saturday, Feb. 22, Shabbat morning services will begin at 9:30 am, and Am Yisrael will honor some of those who helped build its school.  Special children's programming will be offered that morning starting at 9:30 am in the school building.  Following services, everyone will join together for Kiddush lunch.   The celebration continues on Sunday afternoon, February 23, 12:30-2:30 pm, with lunch,  DJ and dancing, photo booth, and a montage chronicling the past 13 years.  Both children and adults are encouraged to attend.   The cost to attend Sunday's event is $25/adult and $18 for children under 10 years of age.  This is part of an ongoing fundraising campaign that began last year.  RSVP by Friday, Feb. 14 to Am Yisrael, 4 Happ Road, Northfield, IL 60093.  For questions, contact Nancy Holab Nevins, Executive Director, at 847-446-7215 or nhnevins@amyisrael.org.
