New Trier Township Agency Funding Hearings Scheduled

New Trier Township awards grants to social service providers to ensure that residents have access to needed programs that impact their well-being. The Township grant application process is currently under way, and social service agencies applying for grants are required to appear at funding hearings which take place during the month of November. Hearings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend. All hearing meetings take place at the New Trier Township Office, 739 Elm Street, Winnetka. Volunteers to serve on the Advisory Committees are always needed. Interested residents may get more information about participating by contacting New Trier Township Community Service Administrator Brian Leverenz at 847-446-8203 or bleverenz@newtriertownship.com.

The process of applying for Township grants by agencies serving residents began in September when agencies submitted their applications. During October, Advisory Committee members meet to review those grant proposals and prepare questions for the applicants. In the next round of meetings which begin on November 4, 2013, each agency appears for a thirty-minute session in which they briefly present responses to a questionnaire provided to them in advance. New Trier Township has budgeted $1.34 million in Fiscal Year 2014-15 to fund almost 50 programs operated by more than 35 agencies.

The funding hearings schedule is as follows. There are occasional last minute changes to the schedule, so watch the Township website for updated meeting schedule information.
