The Wilmette Theatre Introduces Bi-Monthly Brew n' View Late Night Entertainment With 'THE ROCK SERIES'

Wilmette’s evening entertainment scene is ramping up as the 100-year-old Wilmette Theatre introduces "THE ROCK SERIES,” a twice-monthly brew and view line-up on Fridays and Saturdays at 9:15pm of some of the best rock concerts and rockumentaries ever captured on film.

“Downtown Wilmette is sleepy and stodgy no more and ”THE ROCK SERIES" answers the question of what to do after dining at one of the village’s many new restaurants. The answer is: just head over to the ‘Mette," said Wilmette Theatre’s Media Director, Linda MacLennan.

THE ROCK SERIES will feature compelling films that take audiences behind the scenes for rare concert footage, intimate interviews and backstage confessions while highlighting the social and political landscapes that have influenced some of the greatest musicians, bands and musical movements in history.

“Now that we are digital, we have the opportunity to showcase additional genres of films that we didn’t previously have access to,” said MacLennan. "Given our new state-of-the-art digital equipment, our theatre-goers will experience the best in sound, picture and film quality. And we’ve compiled what I believe is an exceptional line-up of films for anyone who loves music.”

Making the experience even more inviting, is the opportunity to brew and view. The Wilmette Theatre offers beer and wine in addition to popcorn and traditional movie snacks at the concession stand.

Starting in May, THE ROCK SERIES will feature:

·      May 16th & 17th:  Aerosmith in “Rock for the Rising Sun”- Not long after Japan was ravaged by the 2011 earthquake and nuclear power plant meltdown, the classic rockers toured seven cities as part of a benefit concert for Japan. The film features tracks like Love In An Elevator, Livin' On The Edge, Last Child, Walk This Way, Draw The Line, Sweet Emotion, Hangman Jury, and many more.

·      May 30th & 31st: "Muscle Shoals"- Located along the Tennessee River, Muscle Shoals, ALABAMA is the unlikely breeding ground for some of America's most creative and defiant music. In Alabama's racial cauldron of the 1960s and '70s, FAME Studios brought together black and white musicians to create some of the most important and resonant songs of all time. Artists who travelled to Muscle Shoals to record there include Aretha Franklin, Greg Allman, Bono, Clarence Carter, Mick

Jagger, Etta James, Alicia Keys, Keith Richards, Percy Sledge and others. In this riveting documentary, they all bear witness to Muscle Shoals' magnetism, mystery and why it remains influential today.
