Week of Hope

South East Lake County Interreligious Council Sponsors a Week of Hope . . .

Christian, Jewish and Bahia congregations of Southeast Lake County are joining together to do acts of service throughout the area from October 6 through 12.  Pastor Brian Roots states, “While religion so frequently divides people participating congregations work together in a spirit of religious unity”.  The best way to fight intolerance, prejudice and violence is to communicate acceptance and love through acts of service and compassion.  Projects include singing at senior centers, stocking shelves at a food pantry, digging out invasive species such as Buckthorn, a blood drive and making blankets for hospitalized children and more. Participating organizations include Christ UMC, Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, the Bahai’s of Highland Park and Deerfield, Beth Chaverim and Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church. Members from Congregation Ahavat Olam and Zion Lutheran will also be participating in the Week of Hope. For more information contact Pastor Brian Roots at Christ United Methodist Church at 847-945-3040.
