1) Introduction to Writing for Children: You may just be the next Dr. Suess, so what are you waiting for?! Sign up for the StoryStudio’s ‘Introduction to Writing for Children’ class, and learn how to get started, tips for writing for kids and how to find an agent or publisher. Class is limited to 15 participants or fewer.  Sat. Jan 12, 10 a.m., 723 Elm St., Winnetka. $80.

2) Poets to Learn All About Haiku: Come learn haiku form/Whether you are young or old/Haikus, fun for all. While that may have been a terrible haiku, chances are you can do better – especially if you attend this free program at the Winnetka public library, sponsored by the Midwest Region of the Haiku Society of America. Sat. Jan. 12, 10 am to 1 p.m., Winnetka Public Library, FREE.

3) Juggling Funny Stories with Chris Fascione: Get the whole family together for an afternoon full of mime, juggling, storytelling and laughter at the Glencoe Public Library. The event will kick off the family winter reading program, “Pop Open a Good Book”. Sat. Jan. 12, 2 p.m. Glencoe Public Library, FREE.

4) Tom Kroll Presents: Guitar and Vocal: Take a much needed relaxation break on Sunday to come hear Wilmette resident Tom Krol, in his mellow Sunday afternoon concert. Tom will perform songs from around the world on a classical guitar made my fellow Wilmette resident, Richard Brune.
