  • Why Go?: Services for Adults Staying in Their Homes (SASI) hosts a “Concert and Conversation” with flutist Ada P. Kahn and chamber musicians at Mallinckrodt Community Center. Ms. Kahn, author of Keeping the Beat, will also lead a dialogue on the positive aspects of music on older adults.

  • Where: , 1242 Wilmette Ave, Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Cynthia Flores is a full time police officer and a Personal Safety Consultant at StreetSafe. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Chicago with Masters and Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Currently, Cynthia is working with a police force initiative designed to help citizens be proactive in their personal safety.

  • Why Go?:  Please join noted silent film accompanist David Drazin for his discussion of the birth of film in the silent era, highlighting the invention of photography, early masters, and film firsts.  Also included are screenings of silent shorts, featuring Drazin’s live piano accompaniment.  A must-see for early film buffs!Tickets: $10 advance; $12 at door.

    Dean Karnazes will share his incredible story of ultramarathoning throughout the world with Chicago families onMay 10, 2012. Life in Motion, presented by The Runner’s Edge, Lad & Lassie, and The North Face, Karnazes will offer an inspirational look into the world of an ultramarathoner and share his amazing journeys.

  • Why Go?: William A. Muller, D.Min., Psy.D., and Liz Morris, LCSW, talk about the obstacles to our happiness-emotions such as anger, fear, anxiety and despair. Dr. Muller is associate pastor of Winnetka Congregational Church; Liz Morris is on the staff of the Samaritan Counseling Center.
