  • Why Go?: Wilmette is not immune to home foreclosures.  In just the first half of 2011, the Village experienced 51 foeclosures, states Jasmine Brewer, director of housing counseling at the Interfaith Housing Center of the Northern Suburbs, who will speak on May 22. Her talk will focus on fair lending red flags that everyone should be aware of.  Participants will walk away with a basic understanding of the lending industry and the tatics that get people into predatory and unfair lending loans.

  • Why Go?: Chicago is part of a massive volunteer effort in this country to provide every veteran who fought in World War ll,  an opportunity to see the 5-year old national memorial in Wahington D.C. honoring their service.  Join us to hear about HONOR FLIGHT CHICAGO and see the wonderful reception they receive in Washington starting at the airport and continuing on throughout the trip.

  • Why Go?: The third book review will be a survey by Suzanne Hales of "And Furthermore" (author, Judi Dench), a story of the actress’s childhood, adult life, and career. A portion of the proceeds from the book review on May 23rd will benefit United Through Reading, whose mission is to facilitate a bonding experience of military families by reading together.  The May 16th review proceeds will help benefit SCOPE-Midwest, an organization that helps underserved children attend non-profit camps.
