  • Why Go?: "...ordinary is where our gifts lie," says Brian T. Madvig, a Wilmette resident, gifted storyteller as well as a clinical psychologist and group facilitator. Hear him talk about his recently published book 33 Weeks of Ordinary on November 12th.

American Education Week Breakfast and Classroom Visitation

  • When: Wednesday, November 14, 2012, 8:00 a.m.
  • Where: Marie Murphy School2921 Illinois Rd., Wilmette
  • Why Go?: American Education Week will be celebrated in the Avoca schools during the week of Nov. 12 through 16.  All classrooms will be open to parents and community members to visit and observe our teachers and students in action!

"Genetic Roulette" Film Screening

  • When: Wednesday, November 14, 2012, 1:00 p.m.
  • Where: Wilmette Public Library, 1242 Wilmette Ave., Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Genetically  modified crops are spreading through our environment and food supply. This documentary provides a theory to help explain the deteriorating health of Americans, especially among children, and offers a recipe for protecting ourselves and our future.

Happy Holidays Open House in downtown Wilmette

  • When: Thursday, November 15, 2012, 5:00 p.m.
  • Where: Village of Wilmette, 1200 Wilmette Ave., Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Taking place in downtown Wilmette, this event will  offer special sales, refreshments,  in-store entertainment,and a festive bounty of surprises to celebrate all downtown Wilmette has to offer.

Wilmette Interfaith Thanksgiving Service

  • When: Thursday, November 15, 2012, 7:00 p.m.
  • Where: Congregation Sukkat Shalom, 1001 Central Ave., Wilmette
  • Why Go?: Wilmette Interfaith Religious Leaders (WIRL) are sponsoring the service. Enjoy beautiful music and messages of peace and gratitude. Refreshments will be served after the service. Donations of canned food will be gratefully accepted to benefit the Wilmette Food Pantry.
