Get Out: Fair Trade Day, Troop Pancake Breakfast, Art Show

  • Why Go?: All proceeds benefit Troop 3’s leadership and skill-building outings and other activities.“Our scouts look forward to the Pancake Breakfast every year because it’s a lot of fun and we raise money to help support our campouts and service work, “ said Troop 3’s Senior Patrol Leader Mac Lockett. Troop 3 also will be hosting an open house for interested scouts during the breakfast, to give boys 11 to 18 the opportunity to learn more about the troop and talk with scouts.

  • Why Go?: Sample fair trade coffee and chocolates and see displays of fair trade products at a World Fair Trade Day celebration in the Auditorium.  Ten Thousand Villages of Evanston and The Mustard Seed of Lake Forest will display jewelry, scarves, housewares and home decor products created by female artisans in developing countries.  Chicago Fair Trade executive director Nancy Jones will talk about how by buying fair trade products, you provide a fair wage for producers in developing countries, particularly women who are trying to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.  Learn more at www.chicagofairtrade.org.

For these shows theWilmette Theatre has partnered with Chicago Underground Comedy, which the Chicago Tribune called "one of the hottest shows in town" and Chicago Magazine raved, "the hippest, hottest stand-up showcase to emerge in years."

  • Why Go?: The art exhibit features the top-winning student pieces from 21 different Chicagoland high schools – more than 100 pieces will be on display. The artwork includes five categories: painting, drawing, three-dimensional, photography, and graphic communication. The students compete for higher learning scholarships sponsored by the Klitzky’s and Mesirow Financial.
