Get Out Feb. 18 to Feb. 21: Local Eating and President's Day Fun

We've added some President's Day fun to the list as well as potential weekend outings.

Need some date ideas for the weekend? Looking to catch a flick or a laugh? Wilmette-Kenilworth Patch has you covered for Feb. 18 to Feb. 21.

FRIDAY, FEB. 18:


  • Where/When: Friday, Feb. 18, 12 p.m. at , 507 Chestnut St, Winnetka.
    Why Go: Join film critic, Bruce Ingram, as he discusses the year’s best films.
    Pricing: $25

  • Where/When: Weekly on Fridays at 4 p.m., at 3535 Dundee Rd, Northbrook, (Sportsmans Golf Clubhouse dining area).
    Why Go:  Stuff yourself to the gills at the all-you-can eat fish fry, every Friday until April 22. The buffet raises money for American Legion 791 and includes a cash bar.
    Pricing: Starts at $10.95 w/child’s menu of $6.95.

SATURDAY, FEB. 19:

  • Where/When: Saturday, February 19 at , 1000 Lake Cook Rd, Glencoe. The program runs 9:30-11 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m.
    Why Go: Put a little spring fever in the air by planting a flower that will attract bees and treat yourself by making a beeswax candle.
    Pricing: $17-$20

  • Where/When:, 1330 Ridge Ave, Evanston. Saturday, Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m.
    Why Go: Chicago land’s opera singers all in one place, belting out melodies to raise money for Connections for the Homeless and the Unitarian Church of Evanston.
    Pricing: $20 in advance; $22 at door.

SUNDAY, FEB. 20:

  • Opera in Cinema presents: RIGOLETTO by Verdi The Wilmette Theatre 1122 Central Ave. Wilmette, IL 60091 Sunday, Feb. 20 at  2:30pm
    Why Go: You can transform you Sunday and take a trip through the silver screen . 
    Pricing: Tickets: $20

  • Presidents Day Children's Program: Cartooning for Kids!
    When/Where: Wilmette Historical Museum 609 Ridge Road
    Wilmette, ILJeremy Tinder, teacher at the School of the Art Institute and the Evanston Art Center, imparts his expertise on how to doodle with skill.
    Pricing: For kids 6 – 11 years; $15 per child; $5 for siblings
  • History Book Club
    When/Where: Wilmette Historical Museum 609 Ridge Road
    Wilmette, IL“The World Turned Upside Down” (1972) will be on the talking table.
    Pricing: Free
