NorthShore Taps 'Top U.S. Doctor' for Dept. of Medicine Chair

, NorthShore University has announced a new head of the Department of Medicine.

Theodore Mazzone, a Wilmette resident, helped found University of Illinois' Center for Clinical and Translational Science and has previously worked for Rush University Medical Center.

“I was born and raised in Chicago and have worked here for most of my professional career,” Mazzone in a press statement released Monday from NorthShore. “I believe NorthShore provides exciting opportunities to continue developing innovative approaches to advance patient care."

Since 2001, Mazzone has been named one of the country's, as well as Chicago's top doctors, according to the statement.

Evanston-based NorthShore University Health System has four hospitals, in Evanston, Skokie, Glenview and Highland Park.
