WEEKLY VIDEO: The People's Politician

This Highland Park resident was one of three featured on Patch Portraits earlier this week.

The last time Herb Brenner saw Paul Soglin was 50 years ago, when the two ran against each other for middle school class president.

Brenner lost, but insists there's no hard feelings, especially since Soglin's victory was just the start of a political career that has led him to serving as the mayor of Madison, WI for nearly six terms between 1973 and 1996.

A Highland Park resident, Brenner drove to Madison on Saturday with members of the Illinois Tenth Congressional District Democrats to participate in the demonstration that brought out close to a hundred thousand protesters.
