Wilmette Resident Eyewitness to Egyptian Revolution

Myron Resnick and his wife traveled to Egypt on Jan. 25 and unknowingly arrived at an historic moment.

When Myron Resnick and his wife embarked for their tour of Egypt on Jan. 25 political uprisings had only taken shape in neighboring Tunisia. The Resnicks and the 42-person tourist group they were traveling with spent their first day in Cairo sightseeing.

But that evening protests began to arise, and by their third evening in the country tanks were rolling down the street past the group's hotel. Resnick, Wilmette resident and retired Allstate Insurance Company executive, recounted the story of his travels on Tuesday during a presentation at Aurora Univeristy's Wackerlin Center for Faith and Action, according to a press release from the university. Resnick also serves on Aurora's board of trustees.

After several days of limited mobility the group left Egypt, Resnick told students, faculty and staff during the informal discussion.
