Wilmette Tennis Club Can Be Repaired While Pool Remains Open

Park District officials have said that the pool will be open this summer, despite damage caused by an April 18 storm.

Wilmette Park District officials said that the indoor tennis center, which was damaged in a storm on April 18, can be repaired without shutting down the outdoor swimming pool, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The wall of the tennis court abuts the outdoor pool and buckled in the storm. Most of the brick wall has been torn down so the structure could be repaired, the Tribune states. The repair is expected to start soon, and the cost is estimated to be in the seven-digit range. The swimming pool is estimated to open June 8 instead of its customary Memorial Day weekend opening.
