Pack your picnic basket and come join the Romona Community for our very own version of Ravinia at Romona…a fun-filled evening with live music on the Romona lawn hosted by parents of the PTA. This is a wonderful way to meet up with friends, get to know new families and to show your support for the community.

(Wilmette, Illinois) August 23, 2012 — Romona Elementary School will host its 3rd annual “Rockin’ Romona” concert on the school lawn Saturday, September 8, 2012, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The event is FREE and all are welcome! Romona Elementary School is located at 600 Romona Road in Wilmette.

Featured performers include Chris Karabas, owner of Wilmette’s The Rock House, Romona kids, both past and current students, and our very own Romona dads, Jim
Flannery and Mike McCue, with the The Jimbo Jones Band.

Families are encouraged to pack a picnic and enjoy complimentary water (courtesy of Lyn Flannery, Prudential Rubloff Properties) and desserts (courtesy of J&L Catering) while taking in the evening’s entertainment on the lawn. The entire community is welcome to attend, so come take advantage and join us for this fun-filled evening.

Rockin’ Romona will also give families an opportunity to preview an array of opportunities to get involved within the school community. A sampling of After School R Clubs programming will be featured, courtesy of Right at School, and will include rhythmic gymnastics and basketball.

Every Friday, students at Romona participate in “Mustang Madness” in which students are encouraged to wear their “Romona Wear” or school colors. To make shopping easy, Romona PTA will be on-hand with Romona Wear samples for sizing purposes and to process order requests.

MightyNest will also be present to sell their earth-friendly lunch and back-to-school products. MightyNest’s mission is to provide hand-selected natural, organic and non-toxic products for the whole family. And, beginning at 5:30p.m., the Wilmette Fire Department will be at the event to provide tours of one of their engines.

Special thanks to this year’s 2012 Rockin’ Romona Committee: Maggie Burton, Kristen Erickson, Katie Kelly and Trisha Murphy.
