North Shore Harmonizers open house

Calling all women who like to sing: Does your heart race when you hear “Lida Rose”? Do you hum along to intercom music at the grocery store? Did you ever want to sing in an a cappella chorus? Then the North Shore Harmonizers may be the answer for you.

            The North Shore Harmonizers is a women’s chorus dedicated to the art of singing four-part harmony in barbershop and other a cappella styles. Since 1952, this acclaimed chorus has sung weekly for the sheer joy of it and performed at its own public concerts, at retirement homes and for other Chicago-area community groups throughout the year, at holiday programs and community caroling events during the Christmas season, and at farmers' markets during the summer.

            On Thursday, March 10, the Harmonizers will host an open house for all interested female singers beginning at 7pm at St. Augustine’s Church, 1140 Wilmette Ave., in Wilmette. Any level of musical experience is welcome. Consider it a free music lesson. You will be introduced to four-part singing, learn some “tags,” and sing some familiar tunes with the chorus. Light refreshments will also be served.
