  1. Where/When: Thursday, Feb. 24, 6 p.m. at Orrington Elementary School 2636 Orrington Ave., Evanston
    Why Go: The Orrington Elementary PTA will recognize the school’s multi-culturalism through its annual Ethnic Arts Festival. Volunteers will will help students create colorful, hand-made crafts and introduce them to diverse traditions of children all over the world.

  2. Chicago Restaurant Week
    Where/When: All throughout Chicago, Feb. 18-27, including lunch and dinner.
    Why Go: More than 200 Chicago restaurants offer week-long specials.
    Pricing: $22-$44

  3. Where/When: Friday, Feb. 25, 9 a.m. at Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Rd, Glencoe.
    Why Go: Residential landscape design professionals learn more about design philosophy through lectures and interactive sessions. Lunch is available for an additional $20.
    Pricing: $125-$150
  4. International Kennel Club of Chicago
    Where/When: Feb. 25-27 at McCormick Place, 2301 S. Lake Shore Dr., Chicago.
    Why Go: Pooches compete for best in show in the club’s 150th dog show.  
    Pricing: $18, kids under 12 years of age get in free.

  5. Where/When: St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, Saturday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
    Why Go: Sample wines from around the world with WineStyles of Glenview. Th event includes cheese, live piano music, a raffle and a silent auction.
    Pricing: $15-$25
