Wedeal Back Up and Running

After weeks of complaints from merchants and customers who said they got stiffed, the online coupon site went live again on Wednesday.

After weeks of complaints from both merchants and customers who said they were owed money, Deerfield-based online coupon company Wedeal is once again up and running.

A Feb. 6 column in the Chicago Tribune detailed how Wedeal failed to pay participating merchants money owed them and left customers with unusable coupons.

“Every merchant going to be approached and customers contacted one by one,” John Marks, a consultant recently brought on by Wedeal, told Patch Thursday. He said owner Brad Pielet was reaching out to everyone who had complained in order to make things right.

Marks said there’s “no doubt” that merchants and customers will all get the money or goods and services owed them.

He said the problem had been was a technical one with the website, but declined to elaborate on what exactly happened.

Wedeal’s Facebook page had multiple posts in early February addressing the fact that the site was down and responding to upset customers. As of Wednesday, Wedeal’s website was back up and running, and currently has offers for deals on such things as food, coffee and fitness activities. All the February posts from its Facebook page while the site was down have been erased.

Marks’ message to Wedeal customers going forward?

“Buy with confidence and feel good that Wedeal is going to be around,” he said.
