Nick's Bar and Grill Opens to Mixed Reviews

Yelp reviews for the recently-opened restaurant are all over the spectrum, from one star to five.

Nick's Bar and Grill, which opened in downtown Wilmette in mid-June, has brought another much-needed nice restaurant to the downtown area. The gastropub features a long list of craft beers and gluten-free options, as well as a diverse menu. But Yelp reviewers seem torn on the restaurant

Nick's currently has 3.5 stars and 19 reviews on the popular user-review website.

"We had a great time at Nick's! It has a really good energy, friendly wait staff....pair that with the fabulous crab cakes and you've got a new go-to spot in Wilmette," wrote user Remi V., who gave the restaurant five out of five stars. "Super happy that a place like this has opened in Wilmette. It was desperately needed."

Yelp user Captain G. disagreed, giving the restaurant one out of five stars. The user specifically criticized the service and the food.

"I would not recommend this place at all for drinks or food," the user wrote. "Although if you want to be ignored you are welcome to try it.  They have a long way to go."

User Scott M. falls right in the middle, giving the restaurant three out of five stars.

"Why only three stars?" he wrote on Yelp. "It just seems like Nick's is trying to hard to be all things to all people. It's called a neighborhood bar and grill, but it's a little pricey for that. It's allegedly kid-friendly, but just because you have a kid menu doesn't mean kids feel at home there. We'll go back, and hope that they hit their stride."
