Patch Poll Results: Bring in a Drug Store

Readers had plenty of other suggestions for what should replace Borders at Edens Plaza.

While asking what should replace the closed Borders at Edens Plaza didn't receive many responses, readers offered plenty of suggestions through comments and Tweets.

Wilmette village manager Tim Frenzer said he's heard speculation that a could be one new tenant at the 30,000-square-feet space, which has been vacant for six months. While 34 percent of voters chose that option, making it the poll's winner, reader Alfred Mulle disagreed.

"Let's have something that is actually useful! Not another useless bank/cleaner/antique store or yet another Walgreens/CVS," he wrote. "Lets bring a big box store in there!"

Readers going by Travis and G Baker agreed with Mulle's sentiment. Both would like to see a Walmart take over the space and G Baker also suggested , , or Lands' End.

Since the closed due to the company's bankruptcy, 23 percent of voters thought that a would be good for the space.

"Do we know that a bookstore/coffee shop could not work there still/again?" G Baker asked? "Would be great."

A place to eat was another popular pick. Melanie Lewis used Twitter to suggest the space be used for a , a or something open 24 hours. A reader going by Q suggested a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant.

Candace Moore Hill tweeted that it would be a "perfect place for a " and Travis agreed that "Trader Joe's would be great."
