Located at 1141 Central Ave., in the spot formerly occupied by The Crystal Cave, the tavern is operated by Gilson’s co-owner Chuck Rometty.

“[Patrons] can expect a fun family atmosphere,” Rometty said, “with a great barbeque selection, all smoked in house, with three custom sauces, 54 bottled beers, four rotating beers on tap and a great wine selection. We also have a hint of Mexican food with great steak and chicken fajitas, great nacho platters and a great assortment of kid’s foods and appetizers.”

The restaurant is replete with flat-screen televisions, has an internet jukebox with a nearly infinite playlist and lives up to its name by adorning its walls with a dozen or so paintings of big black dogs.

Rometty said the eatery has been busy since opening.

“We’ve been booming,” Rometty said. “We open at 5 o’clock every day for dinner and we’re packed by 5:15. Call to make a reservation. We’re going gangbusters. We’re open every day, seven days a week.”

Though the tavern has yet to launch a website, owners regularly update the restaurant’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
