VIDEO: Resident Renovates Sunshine Plant into Bakery

Wilmette-Kenilworth Patch caught up with two new businesses coming to the village as they renovate their spaces.

Wilmette couple Larry and Vicky Blanas spent two years mulling over the idea of turning their business, Lawrence Dean's Biscotti, into a full-fledged store front.

"It just kept building every year." Larry told Patch. And after exploring many buildings, Larry said he and his wife found the perfect fit at 637 Central Ave. The corner spot was emptied several months ago when shuttered its doors.

But the Blanases hope to give the familiar space new life with their gourmet biscotti, cookies, bread and toffee.

"When you talk to people about the plant shop, the barber shop, or the pet shop, every body knows it," Larry said. "It came up at the right time."

"We have to make a go of it."
