Whole Foods Buying Evanston Dominick's, Sun-Times Reports

The paper reports that the shuttered Dominick's on Green Bay Road is one of 7 Whole Foods will take over in the Chicago area.

It's been rumored for months, but the Sun-Times says it's now official: Whole Foods will open a third Evanston store in the shuttered Dominick's on Green Bay Road.

The store is one of seven that Whole Foods will take over in the Chicago area, according to the article, which quoted a company spokeswoman saying it generally takes 12-15 months to open a new store.

Patch asked readers last month if Evanston needed a third Whole Foods. The response was mixed, with some ecstatic about the prospect and others saying they would like to see a new company move to town. And Columnist Christine Wolf mulled the question in her last column.

Before the Dominick's closed, one local photographer captured many of her favorite workers in this photo gallery.
